Privacy Policy

Go Notifier ("Go Notifier", "we", "us") is a group-coordination app for trip and group leaders, operated by an independent developer. This policy explains what information the app handles and how. We've kept the app's data footprint deliberately small.
Who uses Go Notifier
- Leaders are adults (such as teachers, guides, or organizers) who create a trip and invite others.
- Participants join a trip that a leader created, using a trip code the leader shares. A participant can only join a leader's trip — an adult leader always stands between the app and any participant.
What we collect
From leaders:
- First and last name
- Email address (used to verify the account and send essential account emails)
- A password, which is stored only in hashed (one-way encrypted) form — we never store or see your actual password
From participants:
- A display name (chosen when joining a trip)
- A password, stored only in hashed form
- Nothing else. Participants do not provide an email address or any other contact information. We do not collect a participant's location, contacts, photos, or device identifiers beyond what is described under "Notifications" below.
Activity within a trip: roll-call responses (yes/no), arrival/attendance status, schedule items a leader creates, and messages a leader sends. This information is visible to the leader and co-leaders of that trip, to run the trip.
What we do NOT collect
- We do not track participants' locations.
- We do not sell or rent anyone's personal information to anyone, ever.
- We do not show third-party advertising in the app.
- We do not build advertising profiles.
Location (Rally feature)
Rally is an optional paid feature that helps a group gather at a meeting point. It is built to keep location data to a minimum:
- Only the leader's location is shared, and only when the leader starts a Rally. The leader's device shares the leader's location with their group so participants can find the meeting point. It is shared only while that Rally is active.
- It is temporary — we keep no location history. The shared location is deleted when the Rally ends, when the leader closes the app, or after a two-hour safety cap. We do not retain a record of where the leader was.
- Participants are never tracked. A participant's status is set only when the participant taps to self-report ("on my way" / "arrived"). We do not collect a participant's location to show it to the leader or to anyone else.
- Optional on-device direction help stays on the participant's phone. A participant may turn on "Show direction," which uses their own device's location only on their phone to show distance and direction toward the leader. This location is never sent to, or stored on, our servers. It is opt-in, and can be declined or switched off at any time.
- Maps and navigation are handled by a third-party app. Opening directions hands off to a third-party maps app (such as Google Maps or Apple Maps), which operates under its own privacy policy.
- Map tiles come from OpenStreetMap. The in-app map displays map tiles from OpenStreetMap. When the map loads, the OpenStreetMap tile servers may see the viewer's IP address and approximate area, as is normal for any online map.
This qualifies the note above that "we do not track participants' locations": that remains true — participants are never tracked. Rally shares only the leader's location, briefly, and only by the leader's choice.
Notifications (the "buzz")
To deliver alerts to a participant's phone (including when the app is in the background), we use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), a Google service. This uses a device push token to route the notification to the right device. The token identifies a device for delivery; it is not used to track location or browsing.
Payments
Leaders who upgrade on the web pay through Paddle, our payment processor. Paddle handles the entire payment, including all card details — we never see or store your card number. Leaders who subscribe in the iOS app pay through Apple's App Store; Apple processes the payment and we likewise never see your card details. In both cases we store only your entitlement status (for example, whether a subscription is active) and a payment reference (a Paddle reference or an Apple transaction identifier) so we can match a payment to your account.
Service providers
We use a small set of trusted providers to run the service, each handling only what's needed for their function:
- Paddle — payment processing
- Apple (App Store) — payment processing for subscriptions purchased in the iOS app
- Resend — sending essential account emails (such as email verification)
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — delivering push notifications
- Railway and Supabase — application hosting and database
- Vercel — hosting this website
These providers process data on our behalf to operate the service; they are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
Children and minors
Go Notifier is designed so that an adult leader is always the point of contact, and participants provide only a name and a password — no email or contact details. We do not knowingly collect more personal information than this from anyone, including minors.
Because a leader (an adult) creates the trip and adds or invites participants, the leader and their organization are responsible for obtaining any consent required by local law (for example, parental consent for children) before having minors use the app, and for the information they enter about participants. If you believe a minor has provided us information beyond a name and password, contact us and we will remove it.
How long we keep data
- Trip and account data is kept while the account or trip is active. Leaders can remove participants, and trips can be archived.
- If you want your leader account and associated data deleted, contact us and we will delete it.
- Hashed passwords and account records are removed when the account is deleted.
Security
Passwords are stored hashed (one-way). The app communicates over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Only our server accesses the database. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures appropriate to the small amount of data we hold.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. For leaders, you can exercise these by contacting us. For participants (who have no email on file), requests are made through the leader of your trip, or by contacting us. To exercise any right, email us at the address below.
Deleting your account and data
You can delete your account and personal data at any time — in the app (Account → “Delete my account”) or by request, without reinstalling, via our account deletion page (email support@gonotifier.com, subject “Delete my account”). Deletion is genuine and irreversible: we remove your leader account and all personal details (name, email, password), the trips you solely own together with their participants, groups, schedules, roll-calls and messages, your saved settings, and all sign-in sessions and device tokens.
What is retained: a trip you co-lead with others is transferred to a remaining leader rather than deleted, so their data isn't lost; payment records are held by our payment provider (Paddle for web purchases; Apple for iOS App Store purchases) for the period required by tax/accounting law (we store no card details ourselves); and a minimal, non-personal audit record of account-management actions is kept for security. Deleting your account does not cancel an active paid subscription — cancel it separately (web: email support@gonotifier.com, subject 'Cancel my subscription'; iOS: Apple ID ▸ Subscriptions on your device).
International users
Go Notifier may be used from various countries, and data may be processed in the locations where our service providers operate. By using the app, you understand your information may be processed in these locations.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll change the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, make reasonable efforts to notify leaders.
